Named the Saint Anthony Sports Complex, the construction in Douala includes a basketball court, volleyball court, handball field, two grandstands with 100 seats each, large bleachers over 100 meters long and modern changing rooms.
The complex is located on the grounds of the Paul VI Provincial Seminary. The courts are open to the community and the students of the seminary.
Premier Projects is the community department for Cameroon’s leading lottery and sports betting retailer; Premier Bet and Premier Loto.
A spokesman for Premier Projects commented: “We are very pleased to unveil this sports facility to the people of Douala.
“Premier Projects takes our social responsibility seriously and we believe that sports can bring positive change in communities.
“We’d like to place on record our thanks to everyone involved, including our partners RJC, Premier Bet and Premier Loto.”
An opening ceremony was held almost one year to the day that work started on the sports complex.
Members of the community were in attendance and were delighted at the prospect of having a new area to play sports.
The complex in Douala reinforces Premier Projects’ latest campaign; Sport For All.
Through Sports For All, Premier Projects want to improve the standard of sporting facilities across Africa. On top of this, they want to elevate the standard of local and grassroots sports.
This has seen them build basketball courts in Ghana, partner with football clubs in Mali and host a boxing tournament in Congo.
